17th edition: Following the Glacier Express (Route 42)

A scenic journey from St Moritz to Zermatt

Route introduction

This is a truly amazing Swiss rail journey. It runs through high mountain scenery from the Engadine to the Valais. It takes in valleys whose water drain down towards the Black Sea, and it touches the upper reaches of both the Rhine – which flows to the North Sea – and the Rhône, which runs eventually into the Mediterranean.
